International Student Services

Mission Statement for Office of International and Immigrant Student Affairs
The Office of International and Immigrant Student and Affairs (OIISA) is committed to the intellectual, ethical, and social education of a diverse and inclusive community of international and immigrant students.  Three primary goals shape the administration of International and Immigrant Student Affairs at Westchester Community College:

  • The application of systems to educate and inform the international population; the college community; and the State and County entities of the regulations governing the enrollment of international students;
  • The administration of a wide range of client-centered programs and services that meet the needs of international and immigrant students.
  • The efficient and effective use of human and financial resources to create ideal conditions for international and immigrant student enrollment, retention and development.

International Student Admissions
Any applicant who is not a citizen, or a documented permanent resident of the U.S. and who wishes to study at the college on a full-time basis, may apply for an F-1(student) visa. Such a student is considered an international student throughout their academic stay. Students on F-1 visas must be admitted to the college on a full-time basis. International students should write to the Office of Admissions, requesting an International Student Application Packet.

(Note: International students who need intensive English preparation before starting college can also qualify for F-1 immigration status.

Prospective Nursing Applicants
Please be advised that our nursing program is very competitive and accepts no more than 35 students for the fall semester of any given year. The college only accepts students for nursing once a year to start in September. In order to qualify for admissions to the program the student must complete the following prerequisites by May 15, of the prior semester:

  • High School (secondary school) Biology or College Biology course
  • High School (secondary school) Chemistry or College Chemistry course
  • High School (secondary school) Algebra or College Algebra course
  • College level Anatomy and Physiology I
  • College level Anatomy and Physiology II
  • TEAS Nursing Entrance Exam (Offered only at the College in March and April)
  • Internal Nursing Application (Due March 15 and only available to students who have received their student visa or have successfully changed their status)

If you are applying for any semester and are missing any of these prerequisites you will be enrolled as a Liberal Arts Math and Science student while you complete these requirements. Please note that this process could extend the time needed to complete the program
