Study Abroad Program - Cambridge University

Amanda Raines's Experience

The ten-day experience at Cambridge University was better than any seminar, orientation, or slide show presentation could ever communicate.

First, the gorgeous city is buzzing with activity and rich with history. Living on campus, in the midst of it all, we were given prime access to the other cultures present for the International Summer Program. Likewise, we had a front row seat to the culture of Cambridge students who stuck around for the summer.

We, the Westchester students, formed a close-knit family otherwise impossible on any trip. We cared for and watched out for each other while truly enjoying each other’s company. Nevertheless, we were able to explore on our own and get a taste of local life. I met a lot of interesting people; students and otherwise. I learned about the English culture and learned to understand how life works in the beautifully stunning city of Cambridge.

Leaving Cambridge, the University, the city, the surroundings, the people, even the food, gave me a nostalgic pain so intense that the remnant of the wound in my heart will resonate forever. This wound adds a notch to my life experiences and for this I am grateful. It has opened my eyes wider with the knowledge of the wonderful things this world has to offer and I wish everyone could share all that Cambridge has given me. It has helped mold me into the person I "almost" am.
