It examines the British political system and compares the British and
American systems. The development of the welfare state; the challenge
posed by Communism; basic elements in American foreign policy and its

understand international affairs and politics. Topics covered include
realist vs. idealist theory, the balance of power, the role of ideology
and leaders, the nation-state, why nations go to war, imperialism,
