WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE HOLDING FREE INFORMATION SESSION AND OPEN HOUSE EVENTS IN MARCH

In March, Westchester Community College will hold two informational events open to the public. The college’s Center for Green Living and Professional Training will hold an informational session on Wednesday, March 28. Meanwhile, the Office of Admissions will host its Spring Open House on Thursday, March 29.

The Center for Green Living and Professional Training Information Session on Wednesday, March 28 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. is directed at traditional and adult students who seek “green” careers. Representatives from the college’s various certificate and associate degree programs in Green Living and Sustainable Technology will be on hand to discuss educational options. The college has an Energy Systems associate degree program and an Environmental Science associate degree program, in addition to non-credit certificates in Green Construction Management, Sustainable Vegetable Production, Sustainable Gardening with Northeast Flora, and Solar Photovoltaic Systems. There will be tours of the college’s $40 million “green” Gateway Building and light refreshments will be served. Call 914-606-6830 for information.

Representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid, the Career and Transfer Center, Counseling, and Academic Advisement will meet with high school juniors, seniors, and their parents on Thursday, March 29 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The spring Open House will include representatives from the college’s associate degree and certificate programs who will answer questions about the institution’s many academic options. Also, current students will be on hand to meet with prospective students.

The focus of the Open House will be on information regarding programs leading to careers and transfer to four-year universities. As Westchester County’s largest college, Westchester Community College offers a full range of academic programs with courses offered days, evenings, weekends, and online. The college even has several online programs. This academic year, the college’s full-time student enrollment is close to a record level. As has been the case for many years, more local high school graduates move on to Westchester Community College than any other educational institution.

Members of the public are invited to this free event, which will include refreshments. For information, phone 914-606-6929 or visit the college website at www.sunywcc.edu.
