ASSEMBLYWOMAN AMY PAULIN SPEAKS AT COLLEGE ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12Westchester Community College has invited Assemblywoman Amy Paulin to discuss her role in the legislature on Thursday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Classroom Building, Room 200. Her presentation at the Valhalla campus, Inside Albany: The Job of an Assemblywoman, is sponsored by the President’s Ad Hoc Committee on Women’s Educational Opportunity. This free event is open to the public. Paulin (88th district) is an active member of the legislature. She has supported recent successful legislation to increase aid to public schools in order to help keep property taxes down, inspect summer camps in order to protect county children, and bills to help domestic violence victims. She has also helped ban smoking in college dormitories, and made healthcare more accessible by backing legislation allowing licensed pharmacists to administer flu shots. The former Director of My Sisters’ Place, a non-profit agency which assists victims of domestic violence, she has long been an advocate for the needs of women and children. She helped found the Westchester Domestic Violence Council and obtained vital funding for day care and neighborhood health centers. For further information on her presentation, please phone 914-606-6700 or visit the web site at www.sunywcc.edu. |
