The Italians and the Creating of America film on Wednesday, September 24 at 11:15 a.m. and Thursday, September 25 at 7 :00 p.m. Classroom Building-Room 100. Free admission. This film illustrates the history and contributions of Italian-Americans to the United States from the time of Columbus to the1900s.

Role of Women in Classical Medieval and Renaissance Italian Literature lecture on Wednesday, October 1 at 11:15 a.m. Classroom Building-Room 100.

Free Admission.  Dr. Maria Passaro, Professor of Italian at Central Connecticut State University, will speak on the contributions of women in classical medieval and Renaissance Italian literature.

Michelangelo…Set in Stone lecture on Wednesday, October 15 at 11:15 a.m.

Classroom Building-Room 200. Free Admission. Professor Lynne Mayocole, who doubles as a sculptor, will celebrate the enduring power of the master.

Sedotta Ed Abbondonata (Seduced and Abandoned) film on Sunday, October 19 at 3:00 p.m. Classroom Building-Room 200. Free Admission. This film, directed by Pietro Germi, features Stefania Sandrelli, Aldo Puglisi, and Saro Urzi. In the past, Italian law absolved a man for the crime of seducing and abandoning a girl if he married her. The film explores this law and its ramifications. Italian with English subtitles.

La Rondine by Giacomo Puccini lecture on Wednesday, October 22 11:15 a.m. Classroom Building-Room 200. Free Admission. La Rondine, a highlight of the new Met season, is the story of a young woman who tries to reform her life. Told in waltzes, it is one of Puccinis finest masterpieces. Guest speaker Bridget Paoluccis talk will center on the themes of the work.

Puccini Celebration: (150th Birthday Concert by the New Rochelle Opera Company on Sunday, October 26 at 3:00 p.m. Academic Arts Theatre. $20 (general admission) and $17 (students/seniors). A selection of arias, duets and ensembles from Puccinis beloved operas will be performed by several well-known singers. Italian Feasts, Festivals & Celebrations lecture on Sunday, November 2 at 3:00 p.m. Classroom Building-Room 200. Free Admission. Professor Carlo Sclafani, Chair of the Modern Languages Department at Westchester Community College, will discuss and illustrate, with the use of videos, the various feasts such as Easter and Patron Saints celebrations and historical events such as the Palio of Siena and the Regatta of Venice, and Carnevale. This presentation is sponsored by the Sophia and Joseph Abeles Chair for Modern Languages Department.

Little Italy film on Wednesday, November 12 at 11:15 a.m. and Thursday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. Classroom Building-Room 100. Free Admission.

An intimate look at the struggles and triumphs of three generations of Italian Americans, from Ellis Island to The Godfather, revealed through interviews with such luminaries as actor Chaz Palmintieri, wine maker Robert Mondavi, artist and labor organizer Ralph Fasanella, and others.

The Life & Operas of Giacomo Puccini lecture on Wednesday, November 19 at 11:15 a.m. Classroom Building-Room 200. Free Admission. Professor Rosemarie Serrano, Professor and Chair of the Music Department at Westchester Community College, will discuss Puccini’s personal and professional development. She will highlight the scandalous life that affected his operas, and she will sing his favorite arias.
