WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE MAKES LEADING COLLEGES LISTS IN DIVERSE; ISSUES IN HIGHER EDUCATION MAGAZINE

Westchester Community College has again been recognized for its role regarding diversity in education. The institution has been included on three separate lists of leading colleges as polled by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine.

As the college is poised to set another enrollment record in the fall, and is moving closer toward the opening of its new Gateway Center building (summer 2010), which will offer even more resources for its diverse student body, along with a large number of new Americans, the magazine recognized the college on three separate lists:

• The college has been listed as #87 in the list of the top 100 degree producers for All Disciplines Combined for Associate Degrees for Hispanics.
   
• The second list included the college at #97 for All Disciplines Combined for Associate Degrees for African-Americans.
   
• The third list noted the college’s placement as the 82nd largest degree producer in All Disciplines Combined for Associate Degrees, Total Minority Category.

Westchester Community College, with more than 12,000 credit students each semester, is the largest educational institution in the county.
