Based in Chicago since 1993, the
Jump Rhythm Jazz Project is a company of rhythmically exuberant
dancers who dance to the beat-driven sounds of syncopated music. The company
has thrilled audiences and students nationally and internationally with its
rich blend of percussive musicality and emotion-charged dance theatre. The
“rhythm first” affirmation of life and art is based on the
Jump Rhythm Technique which helps transform dancing bodies and
singing voices into vibrantly clear percussion instruments.
Dancer magazine credited founder
and artistic director Billy Siegenfeld with “inventing the first genuine
jazz technique in forty years,” and
Dance Theatre magazine placed
him on its “Twentieth Century Timeline of Choreographers and Innovators.”
There are no tickets or reservations necessary for any
of the daytime residency events in the Physical Education Building – Gym.
