ART HISTORIAN FROM METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART PRESENTS FREE SLIDE PRESENTATION ON DECEMBER 6

Art historian, author, and Metropolitan Museum of Art lecturer Oliver Bernier will deliver a slide lecture hosted by President Joseph N. Hankin and sponsored by the Jack and Ralynn Stadler Distinguished Chair for Art and Culture in Society on Sunday, December 6.

Peter Paul Rubens was the most admired and the richest artist of the age; he was held in such respect that he was sent as ambassador to England by the Spanish authorities. As Mannerism came to an end, Rubens invented the theatrically dramatic Baroque style. As for his portraits, there wasn’t a single European monarch who did not yearn to be a painted by him.

Bernier will give his lavishly illustrated presentation at 3:00 p.m. in the Classroom Building, Room 200.

Although tickets are free, reservations for the Distinguished Chair Lecture Series presentation are required. For reservations, please phone the Westchester Community College Foundation at 914-606-6558.
