Senator Schumer proposes college tax credit

At Westchester Community College, U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer announced his effort to push a new college tuition tax credit. At the Friday, January 16 press conference at the college, he said “college is a necessity priced like a luxury.” He is working to have his proposal to quadruple the maximum benefit for families (a tax credit of up to $4,000) be included in the new federal economic stimulus package.
