WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOUNDATION RAISES $500 THOUSAND AT 40TH ANNIVERSARY AWARDS DINNER FEATURING AUTHOR CHRISTOPHER BUCKLEY The recent Westchester Community College Foundation’s 40th Anniversary Spring
for Scholarships fundraiser at Tappan Hill amassed $500,000 for the college.
Christopher Buckley, novelist, editor of Forbes Magazine and former National
Review columnist, was the keynote speaker. During the dinner, the Foundation
announced a new full-year student scholarship in Buckley’s name. All proceeds from the event will directly support the college including scholarships and other programs. The Tarrytown event began with a reception followed by dinner. The evening featured a live auction. This event, in celebration of the anniversary of the launching of the Foundation, provided attendees with a unique opportunity to help eager students to achieve their goals through scholarship support. ![]() “Now more than ever, we are happy to have been able to raise funds for student scholarships,” says Shirley A. Phillips, Vice President of External Affairs and Executive Director of the Foundation. “Due to the current state of the economy, many of our students have the need for scholarship funds. Without this support, many of them would not be able to attend college and move on to successful careers. This event helps make dreams come true,” she says.
