Student LifeHow much do you really know about your community college?
Since it opened in 1946, Westchester Community College has enrolled more than 300,331 students. In June 2000, 16.7% of Westchester County high school students applied to Westchester Community College for the Fall 2000 semester; 10% were enrolled. Nearly 33,000 students have completed their studies in a Westchester Community College certificate or degree program and are productively employed. Of the 2000 graduates who reported continuing their education after graduation, 57.7% attended a four-year college located in Westchester County, 25.6% attended college in New York State outside the County, and 4.5% attended college out of state. In Fall 2000, the average age of a Westchester Community College student was 28.3. The average age of part-time students was 33.5, of full-time students, 21.6 years. Women comprise 48% of full-time students. Sixty-three percent of part-time students are women. The College serves a diverse student body:
