ADJUNCT FACULTY  

Adjunct openings, Spring 2010. Main campus in Valhalla and extension locations. Specify day/evening/weekend availability.  

Credit adjuncts (Bachelors required; Masters preferred. Also required, one-year related experience unless otherwise indicated on web site): Arabic, Art History, Chemistry, Chinese, Computer-Aided Design (AutoCAD), Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Culinary Arts and Management, Dietetic Technician, Earth Science, Economics, English, ESL, Fashion, Flash, Foods and Nutrition, Game Design, Geography, German, Human Services/Social Work, Interactive Design, International Business, Jewelry Design, Law, Mathematics (various), Medical Billing and Coding, Networking, Nursing, Philosophy, Photography, Physical Geography, Physics, Spanish, Weather/Forecasting, Web Design.

Adjunct Instructor, Digital Photography
Westchester Art Workshop, an extension center of Westchester Community College located in White Plains, NY (40 minutes from Grand Central Station via MetroNorth), is currently seeking an Adjunct Instructor in Digital Photography.
 

Senior Tutors:  The Academic Support Center seeks Senior Tutors for biology, chemistry, writing, ESL, math, and reading.  A BA/BS degree and a minimum of 1 year of tutoring experience within an educational setting are required.  The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills.  Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite is required.  Hours: day and/or evening, 10 + hours per week.  Hourly wage: $13.00 per hour.

Staff Positions

FULL-TIME

Technical Assistants, Extension Sites (Port Chester, New Rochelle, Yonkers, Shrub Oak and Mahopac)
The extension sites at Port Chester, New Rochelle, Yonkers, Shrub Oak and Mahopac seek (1) one Technical Assistant per site to provide support to students and faculty. The Technical Assistants will maintain, coordinate and assist in the use of technology by connecting laptops to LCD projectors, troubleshooting equipment issues, etc. The successful candidates will also assist in administrative functions (i.e. posting signs, directing students, distributing and collecting rosters/surveys etc.) Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent plus one year of computer related work experience.   Solid computer skills in MS Office applications and computer equipment are required.    Evening hours only.  Starting late August 2009. No benefits. $11/hr.

Office Assistant
The p/t Office Assistant at the Mount Vernon Extension Center will process registration and provide clerical & office support utilizing word processing equipment. The successful candidate must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent as well as a minimum of 3 years of related experience. Excellent customer service skills are required.  $8.80/hour.

Technical Assistants
Technical Assistants to support the non-credit computing classes in Continuing Education on campus and at extension sites. These are hourly, as-needed positions that pay $11/hour. Work assignments are made on a course-by-course basis according to the current semester schedule. Classes begin and end at various times during the term and are of varying length and frequency of meeting. Day, evening, and weekend assignments are available.  Requires HS diploma, one year of computer related work experience,  solid computer skills in MS Office apps. Office Assistant-Word Processor (The Center for Digital Arts, Peekskill Extension Center)
The P/T Office Assistant (Word Processor) will provide evening support to faculty and students at the Peekskill Extension Center. S/he will process registrations and financial transactions as well as expedite clerical duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience where the primary function of the position was performing general office/clerical work, one year of which must have included the use of word processing to produce correspondence, forms, reports, or other documents and the maintenance of records. S/he must possess experience with phone reception. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and data entry experience are required. The ability to multi-task and excellent customer service skills are also required. The work hours are 4:30 pm-10:00 pm, with some flexibility. No benefits. $8.80/hour.

Tutors
Tutor needed for writing, reading and ESL. Bachelors degree and one year experience in an educational setting, tutoring under-prepared students.

Math tutor needed for developmental and college level courses. BA/BS degree and one year of experience in an educational setting is required. $13/hr, flexible hours.

Volunteer opportunity in the Ceramics Department at Westchester Art Workshop/Westchester Community College, in White Plains
Westchester Art Workshop/ Westchester Community College’s ceramic education facility is one of the most extensive in the county. Volunteers are needed, to assist the studio manager with a broad spectrum of tasks. Individuals must possess a desire to learn, and a willing spirit, no experience is necessary. Educational Opportunity Center

The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC), a division of Westchester Community College, is seeking highly motivated and energetic instructional and student support personnel to join its team. Located in Yonkers, NY, EOC provides tuition-free non-credit academic and vocational training to eligible underserved adults on site in Yonkers, and in Peekskill and Spring Valley. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and computer skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations, required.
