Academic Positions


Assistant Dean for Academic Assessment & Institutional Effectiveness: Reporting to the VP & Dean of Academic Affairs, the senior administrator is primarily responsible for the leadership, planning, budgeting, & supervision of the college’s assessment programs & institutional effectiveness; serve on Academic Leadership Council; and work collaboratively w/ faculty on general education and program reviews.

Associate Dean of Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Engineering Sciences, and Physical Sciences
Visionary educator to lead the Math, Computer, Engineering & Physical Sciences and Technologies Division. Minimum Requirement: Master’s degree in one of the above areas or related field + 7 yrs. progressive administration experience. Program development and teaching experience also required. Community college experience preferred.

Administrative Position

Assistant Director, Extension Center (2 positions)
Assist with program development, community outreach, student services, marketing, administration, and other facility issues at Westchester Community College extension center. In addition to liberal arts classes, Ossining Center has science/health care program focus, Peekskill Center has digital arts focus. Requirements: BA (MA preferred) plus 3 yrs related experience, preferably in higher ed or continuing ed; exp. with MS Office Suite required. For Ossining Center, exp in health care required; for Peekskill Center, exp. in digital arts preferred. Hours are 11 am-7 pm; some weekends as necessary. Starting salary $48,270 plus excellent benefits.

FULL-TIME FACULTY (Valhalla campus, Fall 2008 semester)
Tenure track, instructor rank positions. Minimum starting salary $52,545. All full-time faculty positions require minimum of bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and one year teaching experience, unless otherwise indicated.

English Instructor. Highly motivated individual with strong educational credentials, working knowledge of developments in profession, ability to put the best research and theories into practice.

Nursing Instructor. (Search reopened.) Energetic educator with strong nursing and educational credentials to teach to diverse student population.

Physical Sciences Instructor. Teach Physical Geography in addition to a science course for non-science majors.

Electronic Resources Librarian – Instructor
The Library Department seeks a highly self-motivated, creative, skilled librarian to assume responsibility for our electronic resources and library management system.  
 

Respiratory Care
Instructor for Respiratory Care Program. Requires RRT credential, NY State license, one year teaching experience in academic or clinical setting, Bachelor’s (Master’s Preferred), computer literacy. Librarian – Instructor (Part Time)
Seeking a skilled Librarian to conduct reference work, prepare bibliographies, catalogue & classify publications and other materials, assist library users, and attend professional meetings and conferences. The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited institution. Knowledge of library techniques, library administrative practices, and source materials are required. Familiarity with teaching techniques as well as the ability to provide reference is also required. The minimum starting salary is $52,545, pro-rated.

Non-Credit adjuncts (Bachelors required): Many openings in a wide variety of areas in various locations with day, evening, and weekend options. Classes are for lifelong learners, and may include children, adults, and seniors. Westchester Art Workshop, an extension center of Westchester Community College located in White Plains, NY (40 minutes from Grand Central Station via MetroNorth), is currently seeking an Adjunct Instructor in ceramics.

Senior Tutors:  The Academic Support Center seeks Senior Tutors for biology, chemistry, writing, ESL, math, and reading.  A BA/BS degree and a minimum of 1 year of tutoring experience within an educational setting are required.  The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills.  Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite is required.  Hours: day and/or evening, 10 + hours per week.  Hourly wage: $13.00 per hour.

Staff Positions

FULL-TIME

Admissions Clerk (Spanish Speaking)-Valhalla Campus: Under general supervision, an incumbent of this position provides general information to the public regarding College admissions procedures and performs clerical tasks in the Admissions Office. This position requires proficiency in Spanish and English in order to provide interpretive services.  

Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and one year of experience where the primary function of the position was the performance of clerical functions involving the maintenance of records.  Satisfactory completion of 30 credits at a recognized college or university may substitute the one year of experience. The starting salary is $29,375.

This is a Continuous Recruitment title.  Selected candidates will be required to take and pass the civil service exam, and be reachable for appointment from the appropriate eligible list before any offer of employment can be made. Candidates will also be subject to a Spanish Language Oral Proficiency Examination as prescribed by the New York State Department of Civil Service.  Evaluation will be based on proficiency of listening and reading comprehension as well as oral communication.

PART-TIME

Senior Clerk
The Office of College-Community Relations in Hartford Hall is seeking a senior clerk to provide office support. This busy office represents the college to the public and student body, and handles internal communications to the campus community.  In addition, College-Community Relations handles all media and public relations inquiries.  At least 28 hours per week. One year experience.  The hourly wage is $8.45 per hour.

Secretary I (Part Time), Ossining Extension Center
Part time Secretary with Microsoft Office and customer service skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent as well as a minimum of 5 years of secretarial experience with 3 years of word processing experience. Mornings: Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. No benefits, starts at $9.25/hr.

Clerical
Part-time clerical worker for general support duties at Ossining extension center. Requires HS diploma, 4 yrs. office secretarial exp., Microsoft Office Suite exp., customer service skills. Hourly position, 25 hrs./wk., mornings, $7.95/hr.

Technical Assistants
Technical Assistants to support the non-credit computing classes in Continuing Education on campus and at extension sites. These are hourly, as-needed positions that pay $11/hour. Work assignments are made on a course-by-course basis according to the current semester schedule. Classes begin and end at various times during the term and are of varying length and frequency of meeting. Day, evening, and weekend assignments are available.  Requires HS diploma, one year of computer related work experience,  solid computer skills in MS Office apps. Volunteer opportunity in the Ceramics Department at Westchester Art Workshop/Westchester Community College, in White Plains
Westchester Art Workshop/ Westchester Community College’s ceramic education facility is one of the most extensive in the county. Volunteers are needed, to assist the studio manager with a broad spectrum of tasks. Individuals must possess a desire to learn, and a willing spirit, no experience is necessary. Educational Opportunity Center

The Educational Opportunity Center, a division of Westchester Community College, is seeking highly motivated and energetic instructional and student support personnel to join its team. Located in Yonkers, NY, EOC provides tuition-free non-credit academic and vocational training to eligible underserved adults on site in Yonkers, and in Peekskill and Spring Valley. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and computer skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations, required.

FULL-TIME FACULTY

Instructor/Chair of Computer and Office Technologies (Search re-opened + Fall 2008 Semester). Coordinates and supervises all computer and office technologies programs; provides related instruction. Provides supervision, guidance, and assistance to faculty; assists in the planning and development of new programs and curricula; reviews and selects textbooks and other materials; interviews and counsels students.

Teach classes in assigned content areas using multiple instructional modalities; prepare syllabus and lesson plans; prepare and administer tests and other examinations; arrange supplementary activities; monitor and evaluate students’ progress towards achieving academic and performance goals. Bachelor’s Degree and one yr. teaching exp. in content area. $64.55/hr.

PART-TIME

Technical Assistant. Provide assistance to Lab Manager; support faculty and students using computers/instructional software; administer and score tests. Requires HS diploma or GED, 1 yr related exp., computer proficiency. $11/hr.

Tutors

Senior tutors in Developmental Math, Reading, and ESL. Day and/or evening hours, $13/hr. Ten-plus hrs./wk. Requires BA degree, one year experience tutoring under-prepared students in an educational setting.
