DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Nursing/Division of
Natural and Health Sciences
The following position requires familiarity with
the community college philosophy and the ability to work within a culturally
diverse college population.
The Nursing Department
seeks a dynamic, highly motivated, energetic and skilled educator with
strong nursing and educational credentials to teach Nursing to a diverse
student population. The chosen candidate will be expected to be highly
involved in student mentoring and advisement, as well as curriculum
development and program coordination.
TITLE OF
POSITION/RANK: Instructor
Nursing (Tenure Track) for the
evening/weekend program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach ADN Nursing I lecture, lab and
clinical for the first year of the program.
- Teach ADN Nursing II lecture, lab and
clinical in one component of two components of the course:
ADN 11A Parental-Child Health or
ADN IIB Problems of Man Relating to the Community for the first year of
the program.
- After the first year of the program
teach :
ADN Nursing III lecture, lab and clinical (medical/surgical and
pediatric nursing) in the fall semesters.
ADN IV lecture and clinical (medical/surgical and pediatric nursing) in
the spring semesters.
- Teach 15 contact hours a week.
- Hold a minimum of five office hours a
week.
- Assist in the development and revision
of syllabi and curricula.
- Serve on department and college-wide
committees.
- Participate in departmental, college
governance and student life.
- Participate in professional development.
- Familiarity with technology incorporated
into teaching and learning.
- Ability to incorporate clinical nursing
experiences into theory.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree required in nursing with
some educational experience.
- Experience in curriculum development and
program coordination preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in nursing
required.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Sensitivity to the needs of Community
College students.
POSITION
EFFECTIVE: Spring 2008
SALARY & BENEFITS: Starting salary $52,545; excellent health and leave
benefits.
