Position Announcement

The following position requires familiarity with the community college philosophy, and the ability to work within a culturally diverse college population.

 

TITLE OF POSITION/RANK:      Instructor of Mathematics (two positions)

 

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Division of Mathematics, Physical, and Engineering Sciences and Technologies 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:   The Department of Mathematics seeks a motivated candidate with strong mathematical and educational credentials, a working knowledge of the use of technology in teaching, and the ability to teach courses ranging from developmental to advanced levels including liberal arts mathematics courses.  S/he will teach mathematics courses at the developmental and college levels (teaching may include liberal arts mathematics courses). The Instructor will teach 15 hours per week and maintain a minimum of 5 office hours per week.  Assisting in curricula development, serving on department and college-wide committees, and participating in professional development are among additional responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS A Master’s degree in Mathematics or closely related field and a minimum of one year of teaching experience are required.  A minimum of 12 graduate credits in mathematics or statistics is also required.  Three years of full-time college level teaching is strongly preferred.  The successful candidate must possess the ability to teach courses ranging from developmental to advanced, including liberal arts, mathematics courses.  Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population, familiarity with the integration of technology into mathematics education, and familiarity with teaching in a non-traditional environment (online) are strongly preferred.

 

POSITION EFFECTIVE:   Fall 2009 Semester

 

SALARY & BENEFITS:    Starting salary $52,545 (commensurate with experience) plus  

competitive benefits.
