TITLE OF POSITION/RANK: Instructor of
Italian-Tenure Track
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Modern Languages
Department/Division of Arts and Humanities
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Modern
Languages seeks a highly motivated candidate with strong Italian language
and culture and education credentials, a working knowledge of the use of
technology and the ability to teach Italian courses from elementary level to
advanced level. The successful candidate must be committed to
supporting the college curriculum development and mission.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Teach 13 hours per week.
- Hold a minimum of 7 office hours per week.
- Assist in the development of the Italian and other language
programs.
- Serve on department and college-wide committees and college
student life activities such as advisor to the Italian Club.
- Participate in professional development.
- Assist in the development and revision of syllabi.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s Degree in Italian and a
minimum of one year college teaching experience is required.
Familiarity with technology incorporated into language teaching and learning
is required. The ability to teach all level courses in Italian ranging from
elementary to the advanced level is also required. Sensitivity to the
needs of a diverse student population and familiarity with the integration
of technology in foreign language teaching and learning and familiarity with
Study Abroad Program is preferred.
POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2012 (Hiring is subject to
the availability of funds).
SALARY & BENEFITS: Starting salary $57,415 plus excellent
benefits.
