TITLE OF POSITION/RANK: Job Development Assistant
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Educational Opportunity Center/Career
Services Office RESPONSIBILITIES: The Educational
Opportunity Center (EOC) is seeking a highly motivated and energetic
individual to assist the Career Services Department in providing
comprehensive job and career services to students. The Job Development
Assistant will assist in planning departmental activities and events,
establish contacts with employers, identify and post employment
opportunities, and maintain an automated job bank. The incumbent will also
be responsible for providing general administrative support to staff and
will assist students in the Job and Career Center to access needed resources
and apply for jobs. S/he will maintain student records and
departmental files and will assist in the development of all required
reports. QUALIFICATIONS: High School or
equivalency diploma and four years of experience, most of which was in an
office setting, one of which involved personnel interviewing, employment
counseling, recruitment, placement, job development, or human resources
planning or training. This position requires strong customer service and
communication skills, the ability to organize work efficiently, extensive
knowledge and proficiency in the use of various computer applications such
as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software, and
familiarity with the local job market. Good judgment and strong clerical
skills are required. *This is a Civil Service position. The final
candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam.*
POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open
until filled. (Hiring is subject to the availability of funds).
SALARY & BENEFITS: This position is fully grant funded.
The starting salary is $37,965 plus excellent benefits.
