Announcement
The following position requires familiarity with the community college philosophy and the ability to work within a culturally diverse college population. TITLE OF POSITION/RANK: Director, Fiscal Operations DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Business Office RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Vice President and Dean of Administrative Services, the Director of Fiscal Operations serves as the College’s Chief Fiscal Officer who directs, coordinates and implements short and long range fiscal and budgetary policies, programs and procedures. The Director supervises and monitors all financial procedures relating to general fiscal operations, budgeting, auditing, financial analysis and reimbursement. In addition, the Director makes frequent policy and operational decisions, maintains extensive liaison with various College managers and maintains effective working relationships with funding and contractual agencies as well as local, state and federal regulatory agencies. The Director is expected to represent the College in meetings with other County officials, auditors, representatives of federal and state agencies, officials of banking and lending institutions, and regulatory & contractual agencies. Supervision is exercised over a large professional and technical staff with the assistance of other supervisory personnel.QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a closely related field, including 12 credits in Accounting, and nine years of experience where the primary function of the position was in financial operations, four years of which must have been in a managerial capacity is required. A Master's Degree is strongly preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of modern accounting, budgeting and auditing theory and practice, financial accounting, cost accounting, and budgetary procedures required. Comprehensive knowledge of financial management and cost control theory and practice, automated financial systems designs and techniques, and office procedures and practices are also required. The successful candidate must possess working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations; ability to plan and direct the work of professional accounting and clerical employees; ability to organize and monitor complex accounting systems. S/he must also posses the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing as well as to establish and maintain effective working relationships and use computer applications (i.e. spreadsheets, word processing, calendars, and email & database software). POSITION EFFECTIVE: January 2010 SALARY & BENEFITS: Minimum starting salary $97,369, plus excellent benefits.
