TITLE OF POSITION/RANK: Criminal Justice
Instructor (Tenure Track) DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:
Behavioral/Social Sciences Department RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Behavioral/Social Sciences Department seeks a highly
motivated candidate with strong educational credentials with a working
knowledge of developments in the profession, and the ability to put the best
research and theory into practice. The candidate must be willing to teach a
wide range of criminal justice topics. The candidate must be committed
to supporting the college’s curriculum development and lifelong learning
goals. Responsibilities include the following:
- To teach fifteen (15) contact hours a week and hold a minimum of
five (5) office hours/week.
- Serve on department and college-wide committees.
- Participate in other department and college activities and
initiatives.
- Participate in professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master’s Degree as a minimum education requirement in
Criminal Justice. (A JD cannot be substituted for the Master’s
requirement.)
- A minimum of one (1) year teaching experience.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a practitioner in
the field of criminal justice and/or corrections are strongly preferred.
- A strong working knowledge base and flexibility to teach a
wide range of criminal justice courses.
- The ability to advise and mentor a diverse undergraduate
student population in different academic settings.
- Familiarity with curriculum development, assessment, and the
integration of technology in the classroom is preferred.
- Familiarity with on-line instruction.
POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2012
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary $57,415
plus excellent benefits (Hiring is subject to the availability of funds).
