TITLE OF POSITION/RANK:
Administrative Assistant to the Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Academic Affairs
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Administrative
Assistant represents the Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs in
contacts with the public and department employees to provide or obtain
accurate information. S/he coordinates the Vice President’s calendar,
schedules meetings & events, prompts the Vice President and direct reports
on events and activities during the academic year, provides input for the
academic calendar, and researches background information for needed oral and
written presentations. S/he also maintains correspondence and all
records for the department, prepares documents as needed, and maintains the
flow of documents on all personnel matters moving through the Office of the
Vice President (promotions, sabbaticals, union information, etc.) The
Administrative Assistant will assist the Vice President in managing routine
matters and inquiries that do not need the Vice President’s direct
attention. S/he will coordinate the annual Honors Convocation and the
mailing of honors certificates. The Administrative Assistant also
communicates with multiple direct reports to the Vice President. All other
duties as assigned by the Vice President. QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and three years of
experience where the primary function of the position was staff services is
required. Experience in office administration is strongly preferred.
The successful candidate must possess good knowledge of the methods used in
departmental administration and the principles & practices of office
management. The ability to implement laws, regulations, policies,
practices is required. The ability to present data, reports, and
comments clearly and concisely as well as the ability to effectively use
computer applications are also required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is
required. POSITION EFFECTIVE: The
position will remain open until filled.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting
salary is $54,460 plus excellent benefits.
