The following position requires a commitment to lifelong learning and continuing education, familiarity with the community college philosophy, detailed knowledge of business and entrepreneurship, experience developing and implementing educational programs, the ability to work within a culturally diverse college population, and the ability to work collaboratively with others in the Division and College.

TITLE OF POSITION/RANK: Program Administrator/Director of the Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Division of Continuing Education

To fulfill its mandate to respond to student needs and contribute to a vibrant local economy, Westchester Community College is launching the Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies at the Gateway Center. The mission of the Institute is:

  • To be a metropolitan, state, and national example of successful entrepreneurship education at community colleges.
  • To support entrepreneurship education in credit and non-credit formats that addresses all phases of business development and the special needs of various populations.
  • To continually seek quality improvement in curriculum, programming, and delivery formats.
  • To continually explore and implement initiatives that weave entrepreneurship education throughout the college.
  • To coordinate entrepreneurship programs and events on campus and at our offsite locations.
  • To share what we have learned with other community colleges.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Gateway Center, the Director will have entrepreneurial business experience, program planning and marketing experience, and the ability to facilitate collaborative partnerships both on and off campus. The Director will:

  • Coordinate an internal, inter-departmental team to further develop the mission and goals of the Institute.
  • Incorporate results of a student needs assessment in program planning and conduct ongoing assessments.
  • Integrate community college “best practices” in entrepreneurship program development as appropriate.
  • Incorporate results of a community/curriculum survey to identify and evaluate potential community-based partners and coordinate resources and offerings based on on-going contacts.
  • Review and enhance existing entrepreneurship programs.
  • Integrate existing entrepreneurship programs by identifying pathways between programs that establish clear trajectories, or “pipelines” for students to achieve educational and business success.
  • Develop and implement new entrepreneurship programs.
  • Develop a comprehensive marketing plan for the Institute.
  • Identify external partners and resources on regional and national levels.
  • Develop methods for measuring success.
  • Identify ongoing funding sources.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Some evening hours are required. This is a grant funded position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a minimum of a BA and entrepreneurial or related business experience, as well as 3 years experience in continuing education/higher education administration or related field. MA/MBA strongly preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office applications required.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: Position open until filled.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: The minimum salary start is $64,685 plus excellent benefits.
