Academic Support
I have been out of school for a while.
Do
you think I can handle college?
The faculty and staff at
Westchester Community College know
returning to school can be frightening and that you may need some time to
adjust to college. We also know that adult students are often our strongest
students. You work hard, are making sacrifices to attend and are very
motivated! At
Westchester Community College you will take a placement test to help you and your
counselor pick the right level of courses. If you need to do some review,
refresher courses are offered in English, reading and math, and services are
available for students with learning disabilities. A caring faculty is
always there to help you.

Does
Westchester Community College offer tutoring to help with classes?
The professional staff of our
expanded
Academic Support Center (ASC) offers you free tutoring and support in
reading and math. An extensive series of academic workshops in test-taking,
note taking and study skills are offered each semester to help you sharpen
your academic skills. In addition to the ASC, tutoring centers for many
other areas such as science and writing are available to you. Your faculty
and counselor will direct you to these services.
