Message from Dr. Belinda S. Miles: Summer Reading Resource – June 16
June 16, 2017
Colleagues,
Working together, we are co-creators of the experiences we wish to provide for our students.
This week’s reading is a topic of growing interest: the guided pathway approach. There are multiple debates on whether guided pathway models offer students the opportunity to explore courses outside of the major — an exploration that could potentially lead to individual enhancement or self discovery or quite simply an introduction to a course of study the student may not have realized existed. On the flip side, offering a cadre of courses — the cafeteria approach — could lead to endless meandering through courses not applicable to ones major and a delay in timely degree completion.

Happy reading!
