Message from Dr. Belinda S. Miles: Summer Reading – July 27
July 27, 2018
Colleagues,
Thanks to everyone working hard to help students transition into the fall semester: from faculty and counselors advising about courses to staff answering questions about enrollment process and everyone offering encouragement for students to stay on their academic and career pathways. And special thanks to this week’s volunteers who spent extra hours calling hundreds of continuing students. Every outreach and communication makes a difference!
Here is a link to an NPR podcast on summer melt, a hot topic every year at this time. This term often refers to new students who don’t transition successfully from high school to college. We see similar behavior from continuing students. Our faculty work on guided pathways promises to put a chill on this trend.
