Message from Dr. Belinda S. Miles – June 17, 2016
This week I met with the editorial board of the Journal News. The board was really interested in the college and our work in college access, readiness, and student success. The meeting was scheduled for an hour, but our engaging conversation lasted almost an hour and a half. After the meeting, I was invited into the newsroom for a short on camera interview. The editorial board discussion was inclusive of many different topics, not just those in this clip, and I’m really encouraged by our positive engagement with this important media outlet.
The search for a provost/vice president for academic affairs is underway with the assistance of our academic executive search firm, R.H. Perry & Associates. The firm has recruited talented candidates to add to the ones who had already applied directly through us. Next steps include an extensive review of the application materials, off-site interviews with semi-finalists in August, followed by on-campus interviews with finalists in September where candidates can interact with the entire college community. We will announce further details when we get closer to those dates. The goal is for the provost/vice president to start as soon as possible.
The provost/vice president is a vital member of the Westchester Community College family, and a 20-member search and screen committee has accepted responsibility for judiciously reviewing application materials and being an important part of the process. The committee is coming together next week to discuss the position and prepare for reviewing applications. I offer sincere thanks to the committee members for making a summertime commitment to this process. I greatly value their participation.
Here are the committee members.
