Message from Dr. Belinda S. Miles – December 4, 2015
Dear Colleagues,
This week’s (mostly) bright, sunny weather has been a great backdrop for being out in the community. At the United Way Women’s Leadership Council Breakfast, Chancellor Zimpher was honored and made note of Westchester Community College and the great work we are doing here. I had a similar positive experience at the League of Women Voters of Westchester’s holiday luncheon, where I heard many compliments about our college.
Congratulations to Hannah Gross, program specialist in Continuing Education and Workforce Development, who was recently honored by the Mount Vernon Office of the Aging at the Armory for her work in bringing programs to the senior community there. Kudos also to Jeanne Maloney and Ann Rubenzahl for a great article in WestfairOnline on community colleges addressing workplace language barriers http://westfaironline.com/75664/community-colleges-address-the-workplace-language-barrier/.
This is a critical period for spring enrollment. Many current students haven’t registered for spring yet, and now is the time to get the word out about signing up for classes. Everyone can play a part: announce it in your classes, at club meetings, in your offices, on social media, and anywhere else you can. And when you are out in the community, please remember that you are an ambassador of Westchester Community College and play a role in recruiting future students!
Thanks for making it a great week.
Warm regards,
Dr. Belinda S. Miles
