DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Learning Resources, Library, Media and Instructional Technology
Under the supervision of the Dean of the Center, the Library Technician receives and processes library materials and adds the materials to ALEPH, Integrated Library System. Additional responsibilities include the following:
- Provide administrative support, including the purchasing of library materials in multiple formats, creating purchase requisitions in Oracle/PeopleSoft, updating budget and inventory documentation, monitoring and processing item arrivals, communicating with vendors, and adhering to practices and policies of the WCC Purchasing and Business Offices.
- Sort, distribute and process print and non-print items.
- Provide assistance at the circulation desk by checking in/out materials to patrons, a critical service point for students, faculty and community users.
- All other duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: A High School Diploma or equivalent and six years of clerical experience, three years of which must have been performing clerical functions to assist Librarians or higher-level staff in a library, are required. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science may be substituted for the required experience. Experience with standardized and computerized testing is required. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with a diverse student body, faculty and staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. S/he must also have the ability to negotiate and problem solve as well as the ability to work in a collaborative environment. Strong technical skills, as it relates to working with computers and a variety of software and database programs, required. S/he must be a self-starter and customer service oriented with excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. S/he must also have the ability to analyze collected data and write clear and concise reports. *This is a Civil Service position. The final candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam.*

SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $42,985 plus competitive benefits.
