Associate Dean & Director, Educational Opportunity Center

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT:  Educational Opportunity Center (EOC)

Westchester Community College is seeking an experienced, dynamic and resourceful results-oriented administrator with strong leadership skills to direct its Educational Opportunity Center (EOC). The EOC, which is located in downtown Yonkers, NY, is part of a state-wide network of EOCs and Career Counseling and Outreach Centers sponsored by the State University of New York to provide tuition-free academic and vocational training and support to eligible underserved adults. The Center serves over six-hundred (600) students annually and assists them in acquiring the academic and vocational competency skills and credentials needed for advancement into college and/or entry into the workforce.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Reporting to the President of the College, the Associate Dean & Director is responsible for overseeing all operations of the Center including instruction, student services, facility management, personnel, fiscal affairs, data management, and information technology.  The Associate Dean & Director is also responsible for directing the effective planning and implementation of programs and services necessary to ensure student success and the achievement of state-mandated performance targets; ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines, developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external “customers” to support its viability and relevance in the community; attracting additional financial resources to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the Center, and directing marketing efforts. This position serves on the President’s Cabinet. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  The successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree and have a minimum of 7 years of administrative experience, including three years of which must have been in an administrative or supervisory position.  A Doctoral degree and experience working with unionized faculty and staff is preferred. S/he must have in-depth knowledge of the labor market, a solid track record of administering academic and/or workforce development programs for underserved populations, preferably in a funded environment, and significant experience managing complex organizations with sizable budgets and multiple departments.  Significant knowledge of and experience in data analysis and review, managing performance based funding initiatives, and the use of technology for administrative and instructional purposes, is required. S/he must also possess strong leadership qualities; have top notch administrative skills, the ability to build a strong team, and high integrity.  All candidates are expected to possess strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and must be able to work independently. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.  Entrepreneurial experience and knowledge of Banner is preferred. 

POSITION EFFECTIVE: June 30, 2014. The position will remain open until filled.

SALARY & BENEFITS:  The minimum starting salary is $100,290 plus a competitive benefits package. This position is fully grant-funded.
