Program Specialist (WEOC Internship Coordinator) – Hourly

Hourly Rate of Pay: $31.01
Responsibilities: Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, the Internship Coordinator will be responsible for the development, coordination and supervision of all activities related to the successful implementation of internships at the Westchester Educational Opportunity Center. The position includes two distinct areas of responsibility: Internship development and coordination; employer relations and student/academic department relations. The successful candidate must have superior interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. The successful candidate will identify and recruit employer partners that will provide internship opportunities, secure affiliation agreements with employer partners, assists in the preparation of internship schedules, monitor and track student progress while on internships including holding weekly seminars and making site visits, design workshop sessions to prepare students for internship experience, evaluate employer and student internship experiences to ensure that internship experiences are beneficial to both parties, develop marketing and informational material to recruit employers. The candidate will be the main WEOC contact for students and employer intern supervisor. Will develop the process for student placement including student interviews, develop internship placement packets for students, ensure that students have orientation, completed contact/info forms, resume, medical forms, interviews, background checks and drug screens. Will generate and submit required reports, keep detailed records, evaluate student performance associated with internships and related assignments. Collaborates with Career Services staff regarding placement opportunities for WEOC students. Collaborates with program chairs and instructors in preparation for internship placement.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and two years of experience in the field of education, recruitment and/or training. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Work Schedule: 14 – 28 hours a week. Flexible schedule in order to meet internship schedule needs. Ability to travel to internship sites.
