Hourly Positions

Alternate Chief Examiner/Senior Technical Assistant.  The Educational Opportunity Center of Westchester (Yonkers, NY) is seeking an Alternate Chief Examiner to assist in administering the high school equivalency exam.  The Alternate Chief Examiner works under the supervision of the Chief Examiner and assists in organizing and managing the testing process in accordance with established policies and procedures, processing applications, registering testers, setting up for exams, preparing reports, and more.  

The Alternate Chief Examiner must be available Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30 pm until 9:30 pm for testing and on Thursday evenings for administrative work from 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm.

An Associate’s Degree from a nationally accredited university or college and a minimum of one year of experience in teaching, training, counseling or testing is required. The successful candidate must meet NYSED requirements for high school equivalency testing.  Experience with high school equivalency testing is preferred. The successful candidate must also have effective organizational and communication skills, and have the ability to carry out oral and written instructions in an independent manner with minimal supervision.  $13 per hour.  No benefits.

Chief Examiner –High School Equivalency Exam/Lead Technical Assistant.  The Educational Opportunity Center of Westchester (Yonkers, NY) is seeking a Chief Examiner to administer the high school equivalency exam and perform related administrative tasks three evenings a week. The Chief Examiner is responsible for organizing and managing the testing process in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations; scheduling and setting up for the exams, processing applications and communicating effectively with test candidates and EOC staff orally and in writing sufficient to respond to their informational needs, taking into consideration the varied educational levels and backgrounds of those requiring information.

The general testing schedule is Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30 pm until 9:30 pm with administrative hours on Thursday evening from 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm.

A  Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in the area of specialty from a nationally accredited university and a minimum of one year of experience in teaching, training, counseling or testing. The successful candidate must meet NYSED requirements for high school equivalency testing. The successful candidate must also be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, highly organized, able to meet deadlines, have knowledge of high school equivalency testing procedures, able to work with colleagues within the organization and with external agencies and have effective communication skills.  $15.17 per hour. No benefits.

P/T Technical Assistant-EOC 
The Educational Opportunity Center of Westchester (Yonkers, NY) is looking for hourly assistance in its IT department to perform a variety of tasks including locking down new PCs, moving and performing simple maintenance of PCs/monitors and printers, assisting with the configuration of PCs to the network, verifying inventory, and setting up video conferencing sessions for educational and administrative purposes. S/he may also be asked to remove, clone, and reinstall hard drives under supervision, and other assignments as appropriate.

This job is M – F with a flexible work schedule based on organizational need with a maximum of 28 hours per week. The pay is $11 per hour. (No benefits.) This is a temporary position.

Minimum job requirements are a high school diploma or equivalency diploma, as well as a minimum of one year of computing experience (must be the primary responsibility of your job). The successful candidate must possess organizational skills, the ability to follow instructions, manual dexterity, and familiarity with computer hardware. Knowledge and experience with Windows and MS Office applications are required. S/he must be able to lift 30-50 lbs.
