Instructor of Visual Arts-Painting/Drawing (Tenure Track)

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:  Division of Arts and Humanities

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Arts Department seeks a highly motivated artist with a commitment to foundation-level teaching in the visual arts, a strong knowledge of curriculum development and assessment, and an understanindg of portfolio standards for students transferring to BFA programs.  The successful candidate will teach foundation drawing and painting, and participate in the development of an interdisciplinary visual art and design curriculum that incorporates time-based media.  In addition to teaching a full time load of 15 contact hours, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in curriculum development and assessment, oversee studio classrooms, and contribute to departmental and campus activies that support the college mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:  A Master’s degree in Art and a minimum of 1 year of college level teaching are required.  Three years college level teaching, preferably at the community college level, is strongly preferred.  Candidates may specialize in any aspect of painting but must demonstrate clear fluency in observational painting and drawing.  Teaching experience and/or studio practice that engages with contemporary time-based media is highly desired.


SALARY & BENEFITS:  The starting salary is $57,415 plus excellent benefits. (Hiring is subject to the availability of funds).
