Instructor of Mechanical Technology –Tenure Track

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:  Department of Mechanical Technology/Division of Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering and Physical Sciences and Technologies

RESPONSIBILITIES:   The Mechanical Technology Department at WCC has a tenure-track opening for fall 2014.  The department is seeking a professional with a combination of both academic and industrial experience.  The candidate should be comfortable in both the classroom and laboratory settings.  Courses offered in our department include:  CAD (AutoCAD), Solidworks, Manufacturing (both conventional and CNC), Manufacturing Processes, Thermodynamics, Mechanisms, Fluids, Statics and Dynamics.  Responsibilities include the following:

  • Teach 15 hours a week.
  • Hold a minimum of 5 office hours per week.
  • Assist in the development and upgrade of curricula.
  • Serve on department and college-wide committees.
  • Participate in professional development. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  A minimum of a Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related discipline and a minimum of one year teaching or trainer experience are required.  A PE license is preferred.  A candidate with 2-3 years of industrial experience is preferred.  The candidate should have the ability to teach courses at all levels.  He or she must be able to work in a standard classroom as well as in the department’s CAD, 3D, Machine, Fluids and Mechanisms Labs.  Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population and the familiarity with the integration of technology into the curriculum is essential.  Familiarity with industrial training needs is preferred.

POSITION EFFECTIVE:   Fall 2014

SALARY & BENEFITS:    The starting salary is $57,415, plus excellent benefits(Hiring is subject to the availability of funds).
