Adjunct Counselor-Office of Transfer Services. The Academic Counseling and Student Success Department seeks applicants for a part-time Adjunct Counselor. This Counselor will assist the Coordinator of Transfer Services with all activities, events, and programs associated with students seeking to transfer from Westchester Community College to a four-year college or university including transfer advising and academic planning. The primary responsibilities will include: the coordination and planning of the fall and spring transfer fairs, scheduling and facilitating transfer workshops and in-class presentations, individualized transfer counseling and management and analysis of data for the Perkins grant. The Adjunct Counselor will also provide application assistance, create flyers and promote events & programs, manage the department inbox, and collect and organize materials for the transfer resource center. The minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Counseling (No MSW or LCSW) and at least 1 year of professional experience. Experience working with the transfer student population is preferred. No benefits.
Fashion Design: Flat Patternmaking and Design Adjunct. The Fashion Design and Technology Department seeks adjunct faculty for Fall 2016 to teach Flat Patternmaking and Design. This course is a comprehensive technical skill based course outlining the fundamentals of flat patternmaking and its function in the design and production process in the fashion Industry. Students are required to build a set of basic slopers for bodice, skirt, sleeve, and pants. Students will have garment construction skills and may be asked to sew in this course. A minimum of a BFA in Fashion Design, a Master’s degree and 1 year of teaching experience are required. Preferred requirements are an MFA in Fashion Design and/or 3-5 years in the fashion or patternmaking industry.
Swim and Water Aerobics Adjunct. Westchester Community College seeks swimming (all levels) and water aerobics instructors for Continuing Education non-credit adult classes on weekdays and/or weekends. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. Lifeguard certification is a plus.
Web Design (UX/UI) Adjunct. Westchester Community College seeks a non-credit, user experience and user interaction / web designer adjunct to teach user experience and digital literacy. The user experience course will enable students to differentiate between user experience and user interaction and create site maps, wire frames, and a quality assessment report. Digital literacy will enable students to better utilize their smartphones & tablets and understand how to use apps and social media for personal use. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. Web design, UX/UI, and social media experience also required.
Accounting Adjunct. The Accounting department seeks adjuncts for day classes only. Minimum MBA and 1 year of teaching experience required. CPA with 2 years’ of experience teaching accounting strongly preferred.
Computer Information Systems/Cybersecurity Adjunct. The Computer Information Technologies Department seeks adjunct faculty to teach one or more of the following courses: Computer Information Systems with Microsoft Office, Management Information Systems, Database Management, Systems Analysis, Visual Basic Programming, Operating Systems, PC Hardware, Network Security and Computer Forensics. A minimum of 1 year of college-level teaching or professional experience required. The minimum required academic credential is a Master’s degree in a related field. Experience using course management technologies is preferred.
Dietetic Technician and Foods and Nutrition Department. The Dietetic and Foods and Nutrition Department seeks adjuncts to teach Nutrition courses in the two (2) curricula.
Qualifications: The Nutrition courses include normal nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, food service management and food preparation courses, and may require culinary/foods laboratory and clinical preceptor experience.
Qualifications: A Master’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in Nutrition or Dietetics is required. At least three years of related work experience with a strong knowledge of normal nutrition, medical nutrition therapy or food service management is strongly preferred. Three years of experience in teaching undergraduate college students in the classroom and laboratory is also strongly preferred. Experience as a clinical preceptor is highly desirable. Knowledge and commitment to the goals and missions of the community college and demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse and multicultural student body and staff are required. Certification as Registered Dietitian Nutritionist through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetic Registration is required. The individual should be familiar with courses and certifications offered through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). Registration as a Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) by New York State Department of Education is preferred.
Chemistry Adjunct. The Chemistry Department seeks adjuncts. Teaching assignments would include lecture and laboratory instruction in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry courses for both science and non-science majors. A candidate for this position must have either (i) a Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Biochemistry or preferably (ii) a Doctorate or A.B.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biochemistry. One year of teaching Chemistry at the college level is also required.
Biology Adjunct. The Biology Department seeks adjuncts. Subject matter areas include: Environmental Science, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Principles of Biological Science, General Biology I and II, General Microbiology and Human Sexuality. Minimum requirements are a Master’s Degree in Biology and 1 year of teaching experience. Three years teaching experience is preferred.
Electronics Adjunct. Westchester Community College seeks a non-credit Electronics Adjunct to teach 3D printing, Arduino, electronics, and programming. The course will enable students to learn the latest in electronics and 3D printing technology and make robots that move, make sounds, display lights, etc. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. Electronics programming skills and Arduino experience required.
Game Design Adjunct. Westchester Community College seeks a non-credit Game Design Adjunct to teach game design. The course will enable students to design and build their own games utilizing software program, Torque 2D. Students will develop characters and focus on the interactive user experience. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. Game design programming skills and interface design is required.
Market Research Adjunct. The Business department seeks an incumbent to teach Marketing Research and Metrics. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in the areas of consumer marketing research, statistics, data collection & measurement methods and procedures, particularly with respect to audience data research and the application of such research to business decisions in content development and strategic market planning. A Master’s degree and 1 year of teaching experience is required. A degree in marketing or statistical modeling strongly preferred. Teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred. Knowledge and experience using market research technology and quantitative research software strongly desired.
