Inspirational and engaging photography is a key component of the Westchester Community College brand. Photos should emphasize the diversity of our community as well as the resources available to help our community succeed. High quality photography is essential to conveying the accessible and diverse atmosphere of excellence that Westchester Community College offers.
Photography should follow the SUNY brand guidelines. As stated in the photography section of the SUNY Brand Guidelines PDF, “All photo choices should aim to make an emotional connection with the viewer, while still feeling genuine and authentic. Shots of individuals should be working to achieve a goal or in the immediate moment of celebrating their accomplishment, while group photos should show individuals interacting with one another in a fun and relevant setting.”
These key points from the SUNY photography guidelines should also be followed:
- Feature natural expressions
- Show realistic moments
- Depict genuine SUNY places
- Have a natural light source
- Use a slightly indirect camera angle to imply aspiration and accomplishment
- Avoid overly stylized or posed images
- Never use images or graphics that you do not have the rights to.
For more information, please refer to the photography section on page 16 of the full SUNY brand guidelines PDF.
It is important to be aware of copyright and licensing. Never use photos or graphics that you have not secured the rights to use. For help, you may contact the college’s Digital Copyright Committee at email@example.com.
